Its all about the hair!

My almost 12 year old got a significant hair cut today. It had become completely unmanageable, but it was important to her so I just couldnt make her cut it.
I made her appointment with one of my favorite people ever, the fabulous Rob Robertson.
She got the full salon experience.
I didnt see a little girl anymore, I saw young woman. The first thing Robbie and I said after her blow dry, was the striking resemblance to me. We favor each other anyway, but in an instant she became a mini-me.
She will be preforming in Carowinds next weekend, on an overnight trip with her school band. We are also planning a boy/girl pool party an the end of the school year.
The single largest clue that she is entering adolescence.... I irritate the mess out of her. (Mom, I know your loving this)
Karma...Boy am I in TROUBLE.

Lawson Dare Evans..most awesome human

If you call his name 9 times out of 10 he replies, "Ma'am" instead of "what". My son; driven, happy, polite, loving, empathetic. Much like his father he is pure goodness.
I am bursting with gratitude.

life with a 10 month old yorkie

He's a fluff ball with eyes, nose and a toungue, he doesn't even have a body.
We we first got Scampers, we said we were never going to let him walk up stairs. We theorized that he would learn from day one that stairs were forbidden. Until.....last week I found him upstairs. My life has not been the same since. Its like the day your energetic baby becomes a running toddler. Don't let looks fool you, he's all hair and about 6 inches tall. Maddie and I are terrified he'll fall through the open stairs .
If I am standing still at the kitchen island he starts to talk to me, a coversational bark. He also "tells" me when to play, when he needs love. He sits on my feet when I potty. I cradle him like a baby, hell nuzzle into my chest. He always smells good.
Of course I would have a dog that needs their hair styled, DAILY!
His daily devilishness is forgiven when we snuggle like a girl and her teddy bear.

Note:
***I think I have a crush on Amy Winehouse. A rebellious, a moderatly talented british pop star.
You can listen to her here .
***I am ashamed, but I watched the Flavor of Love Girls; Charm School . I wouldnt recommend it, you may lose actual brain cells. But it sure made folding laundry more interesting.

Asian Inspired Fence

Michael has outdone himself again! We needed an inspired fence, as always something different.
I said how about an asian/timber frame fence, with massive timbers. He was into the design but had to grumble something about timbers not growing on trees. But yesterday Mike and Bax came home with the 10x10 posts!!!!!He never ceases to amaze me.
TADA!!!!

Salad Days

These are the salad days, everyone is healthy, my children still want to hang out with me, my husband is the greatest man ever, we are lucky enough to live right down the street from my mama.
It is so important to pay attention. To notice with full appreciation that LIFE IS GOOD!
I am such a project person, obsessed about what I am doing not what is.
Its easy for me to feel guilty or even fearful when things are going to well, “This can’t last”. I am not going to do that anymore.

Every cell in my body feels full of love and gratitude.

** I have to send some love to my long distance BF, Miss Terri Lynn, the strongest, most positive woman I know. “Hey Little Mama, you are amazing. I admire your pragmatic attitude, your get up and go, your general positive spirit. YOUR GOOD!”
*** I can not believe Alec Baldwin. Have y'all heard him berating his 11 year old daughter?
(You know his ex released that voice mail message) Shameful! TMZ has all the gossip that has been brewing today on the subject.

Listen here if you haven't heard it...

A few additonal photos for my fellow crafters

Pictured: kids desk (craft cubes AC Moore and IKEA Hemmes desk hutch), IKEA Lack shelving unit, The Lego table and dollhouse.

Finally finished with the Craftroom

This is the funnest space. I share my scraproom with my children.
Micheal installed the last of the lights underneath the shelves last night. So now I can see.
After much organization (and purging) I am feeling right at home in my dream space. I feel so lucky and grateful!
* It's the final season of The Sopranos! This weeks episode was a little slow, but its got to be the best television EVER>
** Madison is going to camp for 2 weeks this summer. Gotta let her out of the nest a little,Sniff, Sniff

I am shamefully posting my "before" pic as well as the after.=)

Ikea Closet Organization

My husband installed these shelves for my shoes today!!! Does he rock or what??
The whole closet is awesome, not only is it huge but we used commercial store fittings
to maximize our storage. In this photo you can see my glass "cubbies". These are used in store displays, like the ones you see for hair products in salons. You give the fixture store your dimentions and they sell you the glass by the peice as well as the appropriate connectors and you "build" it. We use our for tee shirts and other randonm clothes storage.
The shoe shelves are the Ikea Bjarnum shelf brackets and connectors. To save money I didnt buy the Ikea shelves, instead my DH cut and edgebanded the white melamine. Which saved a ton of cash.
As a recovered clutter bug I work very hard to purge and stay organized. My philosophy is nothing on the floor which helps the closet stay clean, so it doesnt become a dumping spot.
The opposite wall is for hanging clothes which I have a picture of in my slideshow. He hung slat wall and used store fixtures there as well.
I am pinching myself... I LOVE that man.

Easter Yorkie

I had to share an Easter photo my Scampers. He looks like a calender dog after a grooming. He is a snuggly, loving cat like dog. Madison and I argue over who loves him more. You can tell hes my new baby, as I am posting his photos before my children's.

*** I finally scrapbooked...I made an awesome chipboard calender for my mom and also busted out a few simple layouts. YAYYYY!!!!
