Old Dixie

2007 Photography Challenge
These shrimp boats are right next to my parents house. I feel very sentimental about them.
They say everything about where I grew up. The waterway, the south, buying dinner from my neighbors.
I cheated! Shot in automatic on DRebel XTI with the 28-80mm Tameron. I didn't know what to do with the bright morning sun.
Still a newborn SLR user!

This is such a pretty photo! Must have been taken in the early morning to get that nice soft glow. It's just beautiful. . . good reason to skip doing your chores. LOL :O)

Very pretty! Sometimes you've gotta do auto when you don't know what settings to use. I was guilty of that yesterday!

I love this. The compsition expresses good mood. Up early, your learing the light. Good job. Makes me wish I were there.

Lovely photo. The morning light is perfect. If I could make a suggestion, you might want to straighten your horizon. That's the only thing I can see that I would change at all. Great job!

Yall are so right about the horizon!!!! I didnt even pay attention to that when I shot it. I was just trying not to shake after my coffee. I'll watch that. love the CC.
How would you have set this manually???
The morning sun was abut 9:00 in the sky over my right shoulder

That's a beautiful photo. I'm the same as you. I use Auto when I don't know what to do, either. Hence, the point of joining this challenge, right?

Very beautiful boat. What a great picture. I could just see the sitting back, watching the boats come and dodging seagulls

I wouldn't consider it cheating. Sometimes that's the best way to learn. I like the lighting in this shot. I agree with everyone else about straightening the horizon. Good job finding an interesting subject.

nice shot. wish i could see it larger but wasn't able to. as jen mentioned, do pay attention to your horizon, or if you forget, you can always fix it in ps. keep up the good work!
